Gonna make a wild guess, and assume that the reason we're seeing this hero here, and why she looks so much like Hiro, is that Hiro is somehow her reincarnation. Maybe then we can get genderbending out of Hiro in the end, making all the girls who've fallen for him/now her still be technically yuri, and everyone wins.

This tidbit in the novel is the opener to Vol 2.... and it looks like its cut in half...here's to hoping it shows the rest next ch for it to make sense. Still, great to finally see Braun and Atiifa visualized.
