@Awakers Well, I have a feeling that there are less teenage guys than teenage girls interested in reading a cutesy fluffy manga about other teenage guys cooking and eating food, with very minor yaoi vibes dropped here and there. (Potentially. There's like two chapters out right now.)

We've got Shinmai Shimai no Futari Gohan for that already.

I swear they acting more like girls. I not even mean it in gay way (yet), just... boy do not behave and talk like that.
Not like shoujo often get boy personally right anyways.

@Awakers Shoujo is just a demographic. There are plenty of shoujo with male MC like Nijiiro days. That aside, shoujo usually have some problems in depicting male personality similar to how shounen depicting female. Both are unrealistic and more like imagination of how the opposite sex is.

I personally found that boys in shoujo make me irritate more than girls in shounen even though I am a girl. Boys in BL are even more irritating (they are basically just girls in disguise, LOL). One of the really I don't read shoujo anymore.

Sorry for the rant.

I assumed from the get-go that this was probably going to be a strange, slightly voyeuristic depictions of men acting not at all like men or even humans in general normally act (because who wants to see regular guys just hanging out and eating? That's boring).

...I guess what I want to say is, I have no idea why people are freaking out about people acting unrealistically in a manga. This is clearly Cute Guys Doing Cute Things genre. Expect weirdoes, getting weirdly excited or emotional over little everyday things, coupled with vague homo-eroticism, just like regular CGDCT.

It is pretty cute, honestly. But as with other vapidly cute slice-of-life entries of this sort, it gets kinda boring pretty quickly ^^;

as someone who reads a lot of slice of life/food centered manga, i was honestly surprised that people were upset at how the characters were behaving because i didn’t really notice. 😅 not only because manga isn’t realistic, but because the way they’re acting isn’t too different from the way i’ve seen boys act in other sol/food manga whether they’re shoujo, shounen, seinen, or jousei. idk if this is because writing characters to act this way is now an industry trope or because japan different ideas on how boys can and can’t act compared to other countries like the US, but either way the way they’re acting isn’t too weird in my opinion.

Would've been better if they were girls. Then again, everything will be better if it's a girl. That's why we have Chan-chan.

these boys are so fuckin pure.

If this is how it feels to read a slice of life and "not get it", it's a valuable feeling. I don't think I'll ever look at them the same way again. Honestly, if someone told me that this was a high-concept parody of moe girl hobby shows I'd believe it. I'm being somewhat dramatic for a manga about closeted boys eating together, but that's how strong the shock is when, as part of the majority, you see something you're not used to.

If you're on the fence, read the first chapter just to see how many tropes you can identify while your brain isn't being overloaded with the usual manga dopamine rush.

Also, they're good boys. All of them.
