Man, seeing a friend/crush of yours suddenly change (debatably for the worse) after a year of not meeting him would make anyone feel left behind. If the genders were switched in this situation, I suspect the readers' outrage would be twice as vocal and heated, and male Agawa would be deemed as the most hated character in the genderbent what-if story.
