Still, the potential is there, even if Takeda chooses not to see it.
I can understand saying this like maybe 40 chapters ago, but at this point asking for something decent is pointless. The guy had several opportunities to make this a compelling story and and the only thing we have seen from him are random occurrences. Is not like the characters have any sort of psychology behind them either, they do things based on their crotch, look dumbfounded a couple of repeated panels and that's pretty much it.

I don't know, they guy doesn't seen capable of doing anything else but vibe through the story and sometime comes with some ridiculous situation. It's very funny when that happens, tho

I'm not talking about his apparent arousal seeing Agawa with a girl but him coping that it's okay that she is with a girl instead of a guy. Gotou is obviously not okay with the current situation at all.
Yeah I think this is the reason why Shige is kissing him. To be honest of all the girls that Gotou has been hooking up with I think that Shige is the one with whom he's had the most meaninfull relationship with by far (which its not saying much to be granted) even more than with Agawa, because at the very least they've come to know each other as persons. So I get the sense that Shige has come to think of Gotou as a weird pervert that it's not actually a bad guy. I mean he has seen him put his desires asides for the sake of the girls he cares for, bring friendhsip and joy to other people and ultimatly deciding to step aside from Agawa despit his obvious hurt feelings, she probably expected him to try to but in or something. So I think this is more of a test for herself to see what's really so good about this guy that so many other find happiness around him now that at least she has made sure that he is not a peace of shit
You may be onto something. Reread the chapter and Gotou was coping in the most horrible way possible. He never opened his eyes snd was showing a fucking forced smile while answering Shigemi's callouts. Then those panels when Shigemi's calling Gotou gross and disgusting while Gotou was still giving shallow answers, let's be honest: Super may be writing this manga with his dick, but making those panels off focused may be a genius moment for something like him. It makes you imagine if he was on the verge of breaking down again.

Shigemi's kiss may also be an attempt to make him let it out. I mean, his vulnerability. So i'm not gonna overrule Gotou being at his most pathetic and get reduced to a crying trainwreck next chapter.

I agree with everything you said. But the way you’re laying it out only proves what I’ve been saying about Takeda, he’s a terrible writer. It doesn’t matter if changes should've been made 40 chapters ago, a writer always has the ability to turn the ship around, even if the story is speeding toward a cliff.

We can see the story is a mess. We can see the characters never really develop. We can see the main heroine has no redeeming qualities. And even with all of that, he still had chances to fix it. Whether it was 40 chapters ago or right now, he still had the opportunity to steer things in a better direction.

The moment Gotou gained confidence from sleeping with other women and realized he was no longer his old self, that could have been the turning point. That could have been where Takeda shaped Gotou into a more well rounded character or where Agawa-san finally realized she had something genuine with him. None of that happens. Instead, we get dragged down an unnecessary path of regression for no reason.

So yes, I agree with you. But everything you are saying just highlights how bad Takeda is at his job. Just because sex is the motif of this series, doesn't mean it has to continue being a dumpster fire.

I really wonder why Shigechi kissed Gotou lol, even if we disregard her initial perception of Gotou and her personal preference she stated (which is fair since she got to know him a bit more), there is literally zero reason for her to like him at all as everything he has exposed to her has only made her express some form of disgust or shock as he's just been exposing how retarded he is.
I’m not so sure it’s about “liking him” so much as a combination of being fascinated with his sexuality and feeling bad for him. Especially since her current characterization paints her as someone who’s only putting on a facade of being some meangirl slut.
IMG_4711.png
After assuming for so long that he was just an unassuming dork, not only does she face Agawa once again singing his praises but sees visual evidence of his sexual prowess as she catches him with Shiina (someone she clearly thinks highly of) and “another girl”.
IMG_4712.jpeg
And then you have the inciting incident with her finding him jacking off on the roof, and although it does disgust her, it also marked Gotou as someone interesting. And as the arc goes on she gains more insight into his relationships with Akito, Shiina, and especially Agawa + his current predicament with ED.
IMG_4716.jpegIMG_4717.jpeg
Which only serves to make her more uncomfortably interested in him, but then also get a sense of responsibility that apparently she’s the only one that can fix him. Which leads to the failed dom scene.
IMG_4718.jpegIMG_4719.jpeg
Where she likely not only appreciated the fact that he didn’t take advantage of her when she gave him the opportunity, but she also got to know him better as an earnest fool trapped in his own delusions and hopeless infatuation with Agawa.
IMG_4720.jpeg
And then there’s this from last chapter. She probably feels a little guilty that she made him cry, but also pretty empathetic for the little dummy.
IMG_4721.jpeg
And finally this chapter when despite his perverted outburst, Shigemi sees that her baby Casanova is obviously dejected and still unable to get back to the other two girls, she finally gives in to the overpowering perverse sexual interest and sympathetic “I can fix him” instincts and goes in for the kill.
Actually, looking back her attraction to him reminds me of Nagatoro’s attraction towards Naoto. She even calls him “kimoi” a bunch of times like Nagatoro does.

who's not into him at this point. Like deadass every girl runs his way regardless.
He fucking pulled the student council president, and Agawa spoke glowingly of his performance before she lezzed out. Of course she’s into him albeit begrudgingly.

Dumb plot aside, surely I'm not the only one who feels that the quality itself is taking a nosedive?

Like the dialogue here feels like a bunch of disconnected shouts. There's one panel that shows the play (whatever the play is, since all we hear from it is "why?") overlaid with dialogue from two people who aren't in that room anymore.

And the art is just...what the fuck is even happening. Look at the proportions on page 2, panel 2. What is going on here?

There are some other trainwrecks I'm reading, like Parallel Paradise, but at least they can scrape by on good art. This doesn't have a good plot, characters, dialogue, or art. It has nothing.

I bet it's still selling thousands of copies regularly with no threat of being axed because we live in the dumbest timeline.

Yeah, no shit, the guy is terrible at all levels. The art is bad, the paneling is bad, the backgrounds don't even have good perspective or even straight lines a lot of the time, the characters are one dimensional and with bad and stunted dialogue like a prerelease version of a LLM that they still have to get the kinks of the natural flow of a conversation, the plot meanders in things with no rhyme or reason and doesn't have a good flow. But sometimes one of his occurences is so deranged and the ludicrousness of the situation is upgraded of how bad of a mangaka he is that I can't help but laugh a lot. That's the only compelling thing about reading this manga, is being Lenny, Carl and the rest of the nuclear plant people waiting on Homer to do something stupid, and for now it's a fun schtick.

I think this whole story revolves around Gotou falling in love with Agawa, she gives him awful advice based on the life she’s chosen to deal with some sort of issue, that advice bothered Gotou but he leaned into it, he’s incapable of dealing with his feelings on Agawa and is acting out because he’s upset, and Shigemi is currently the only one who’s noticed.

Maybe she finds it endearing, maybe she feels bad for him, or maybe she’ll end up getting close to him which will shock Agawa. I think Gotou will either drop the other girls and get with someone other than Agawa, drop them all and get with Agawa, or he’ll lock them all down including Agawa.

Fair enough, after seeing what you posted I can understand why Shigechi would kiss him and when I think about it, their relationship is kinda similar to Naoto and Nagatoro's relationship at the beginning of the series.

Personally, I still feel Shigechi shouldn't do anything with Gotou but this just due to my personal feelings towards the two more than anything else.

I'm happy about this, although Akito is the cutest this new girl is the hottest girl in the series no contest.

Honestly, he doesn't deserve her. I guess she's the type of girl who likes scummy, sleazy guys, considering she has some kind of affiliation with Inukai.
