Mages here don't seem to be as limited in the physical department as most settings... well... at least by the common definition of "mage" at least.
Humberto (I think that is his name) clearly is a close-range fighter, and he can overpower pure physical fighters, who are enhanced by sound buffs.
Despite saying... that is clearly a difference between elemental affinities, and the way cast.
To control blue air, they need to concentrate, moving and casting seem to be a very high-level thing, the other three were mostly leaving the frontline to Humberto, sure... they are practically battleships, so they don't have much to worry about in most cases.
But as shown here... when Shaenando and Guy went on disruption to keep them contained, they could react in time.
