Personally, I feel like I have to disagree with this take - Yayoi didn't overpower Oobashi, she got him with a sneak attack that exploited what she had learned about onmyodo from her fight with Taisai. The series has been pretty consistent about how most of the characters are pretty fragile when their defences are down. This chapter feels so controversial, maybe bad, to me. I expected Oobashi to be strong given previous chapters, but not this strong against Taisai. Sure, Taisai is still weak and recovering from his fight against Yayoi. On top of that, Oobashi gets trapped easily by Yayoi, which seems even more absurd to me.
Overall, the manga is getting into very strange territory since recent months. They have suddenly included major ”power scalling” with the introduction of these exorcist groups and now this scaling has just been broken. It’s bad when a story does this consistently, just look at what happened with JJK, and in the past with Naruto and Bleach.
It would be much better for the pace of the story if Oobashi was shown to be extremely strong and on a level that Yayoi would still need to climb to reach. Yayoi would need some humbling to understand that she’s not alone and will need help from people weaker and stronger than her to reach her goal. This chapter feels like cheap shounen tropes where the genius protagonist is shown once more to be a genius and just stomps everyone.
Sorry for the rant, but this chapter just brought up all my criticism to this manga from recent chapters.
Personally, I feel like it was just a sharp knife thrown really hard. That or author overestimated heft of a sharp utility knife a little bit, which makes sense since school supplies utility knives aren't as hefty as stuff you use for cutting magazine boxes. I've checked the heft part myself with utility knives I've had at hand.Hmm, the thing is, I don't know if Yayoi has anything else on hand that could up the lethality of that knife. Tai can manipulate fate and luck, so I suppose it could be an extension of that, but he was already put back in his plush by then. She doesn't have slited maiden on hand to help with mid air direction via her hands...so unless the S Tunnel Ghost used a strand of hair or something to help guide it towards Oobashi, we are just going to have to chalk this up to luck or her peak human physical abilities lol
Tftc. As usual, yayoi steals the show.
But one thing i dont get is how taisai seikun was shown using a bunch of techniques to curbstomp the graduates during his boss fight, yet here hes being portrayed as just throwing around massive amounts of spiritual power like some brute.
Im probably just missing something about how the whole system works, but the difference in his portrayed fighting style still feels strange
Cut an artery and see how a small cut can bleed out the biggest of prey. What the hell is that boxcutter? Not only it managed to pierce through his thick clothes, she also sounds very confident that such small wound is enough to make him submit, did she enhance it with some crazy curse beforehand?
Nah. You saw a couple of chapters earlier what he did when he was a kid. Dude utterly annihilated a whole gathering of Replaced.Flexing on a weakened god and getting beaten by a child. This guy is a fraud
It's simple: the Replaced are also frauds.Nah. You saw a couple of chapters earlier what he did when he was a kid. Dude utterly annihilated a whole gathering of Replaced.
