then again it might be a theory and the heart is just there for shock factor

I think it's left ambiguous if the bandits did that after they were done playing with her, or the samurai master did that as a mercy painless kill. Would explain why his ultimate technique would do the same thing.

Another thing to consider about what happened to the Blacksmith is that it could possibly be Replaced related. This is kind of far fetched, but you know that old Replaced guy, Tenkai? Some Japanese myths and media like to say that Nankobo Tenkai was really Mitsuhide Akechi escaping his death by changing his name and becoming a monk. Tenkai could have directed troops to destroy that village and that happened to the Blacksmith for whatever the hell their plans were at the time. But that could just be me trying to connect things too much. Not everything needs to go back to them, but it still nags at me.

In case it wasn't clear, it seems that the smith was... getting her heart sliced open first before getting r'ed? Since the body is stiff in that position, it could means her attacker is a necrophile.

The samurai's curse being so simple yet effective is scary.

This work's bread and butter is horror of all kinds including body horror and uncomfortable situations. So how the heck are some people saying this chapter is 'excessive'? In the 'Graduates Home' arc a highschool girl literally pressured her own father to commit incest with her to give birth to "angels" which resulted to 3 grotesque hulking "babies". We've even seen Yayoi's mom grotesquely pregnant with Kubo. We also saw Taisai Seikun snack on Ai's aunt's intestines. Suddenly a corpse implied to have been violated before getting burnt is 'excessive' lol.

Also since the author avoids direct reference to historical figure like Masakado, but that helmet style, although with a bit of alteration, seems to imply that the samurai was a kagemusha for Takeda Shingen.

I wonder if they will feature Minamoto no Yorimitsu and the Shitenno, since they are technically the killers of Shuten Douji, which the author said he wanted to get to later, and their deed is literally a story of legend?

Welcome to the medieval era, where the women's life was very vulnurable. At least men could die at war or starvation, but you don't know what would happen to the women.

I think the Spine Yoink is pretty cool signature move (by his master and like what he did to the pursuit team)
The victim's head is just twisted like lost its support.
but is it not limited to just the spine? Is it because soldier wore armor so he target the exposed neck.
The heart is protected with ribs, that's why those murder must cut open her body to take it out.
So it's not done by his master, because if he did he wouldn't need to open up her body.
Or is it because he saw his childhood friend's body tore open then he able to Heart Yoink skillfully?
