So this was originally the ending

not really. The anime is the original, the manga is an adaptation. bit ass-backwards from how it normally goes, but this kept the same story without the fluff and bullshit second half. No pregnancy shit, not loose ends, they actually fulfill promises, and have a happy ending with actual hope.

I much prefer this ending, but this was ver rushed. Wish we got to see more of 02 and mc after they remembered each other. Even the marriage they promised.

Literally if the anime has more run time they could've done so much better with the entire last chunk of it, they just felt the need to turn everything up to 11 cause they were short on time.
