@relic626 Let's call them people from the world D (as in doppelganger) basically just another world similar to the destroyed Japan and Oni world except they have the exact people but of course how they work is probably different I think the GM of that world has a lot of control considering the doubles already knows what to do after being teleported (considering the GM has full control of the teleportation). So more or less the GM is commanding them or another possible things is someone from that world beat the GM and is now has full control of that world and wants to take over other world trying to kill other GMs

@natchu96 I'm guessing the pirate world and the one sending the Greed is different people.
Imo, the greed is the enemy of all D Game player in their world and the pirate world.
Cue some more training montage with oni people in parallel world for them to tackle the greed apocalypse together.

@Ominous That's my assumption as well. Each universe's D-Game is to find the "alpha" that will represent them in the multiversal D-Game.

Also, it seems like Pirate Team's universe is one in which Japan either won WW2 or didn't get involved, or potentially never even opened their borders in the first place?

Not really.
Because those guys were killed, Kaname was able to determine that taking on the enemy was too big of a risk.
If no one was killed they probably would have taken the pirates head on
