This oneshot made me 1% a better human. Too bad I will read Redo of Healer after this and lose every bit of character development I got.

I like how there is no soppy drama. When she runs away after getting confessed to, perfectly fits the setting. Like I would have been so mad if she said something like "you and I live in different worlds. we were not meant to be together" you're not old enough to be saying shit like that
The misunderstanding ended quick and sweet.

Author could have added bullying to make the readers feel bad for the girl. By not adding it, the story remains simple and sincere. The twist at the end is a sweet and welcoming one.

The girl isn't whining about being fat and "le society". She just rationally came to a conclusion that it is highly unlikely that the popular boy would fall in love with him. Moral of the story, there is no rationality in love.

I do like the idea of a sort of story like this where its really more about psychological self rejection than a "will they/won't they" dynamic. Where even the school broadly is in support, but she still is like "fucking why tho" and getting over that is the whole plot.

Tired of all the stories about male characters with self esteem problems being pursued by seemingly perfect Ladies? Now we see a girl with self esteem issues that has a seemingly perfect guy pursuing her! Yay!
I mean this one shot is cute but ur describing a lot of generic shoujo stories

There are plenty of shoujo and josei manga with the exact theme tho. Some of them also got so popular (among women readers) that those title gets anime and/or live action adaptation.
