Wow; I think I'd rather live in Europe in the 1300s...
Most peasants, merchants, and nobility would bathe 3-to-5 times a day when it was warm, and they all (almost ALL!) used linen to wipe their bum... which was then washed away with scented water (from flowers).
This terrible place where they have almost no hygiene makes me remember just how filthy Feudal Japan must have been, when comparing it to places with huge bathing cultures like China, Germany, France, and other Eurasian cultures...
