I wonder when a legal drinking age became a thing. Might even be a 20th century thing or maybe late 19th. I would be quite surprised if a law restricted it in most places already in the 18th century.

Most thoughtforms (Demons, Angels, Devils, Gods, forces of nature) are neigh-immortal. For Lilyn, she's a succubus with various "Conditions" of immortality. One of them is draining life from other sources.

She must of refined the technique to use the life drained so that she doesn't starve herself or burn herself out. But the 2nd condition is Parenthood. The energy she uses is recycled to help her children grow.

My guess is that it's origins are in the temperance movements of the 19C. I tried to look it up, but Wikipedia wasn't much help there. Everything I found was about either banning alcohol entirely (or at least banning spirits) or was on the current age restrictions, rather than their history. References to laws passed under the Regan administration aren't exactly helpful there.
