im assuming it's that thing where people sometimes refer to themselves in the third person for emphasis. especially when speaking in japanese, they might use their roles in a hierarchical relationship if that's their connection to the other person. like here, where takeo's mom is calling herself "mom" instead of "I".
also checking the raws, takeo's mom was saying お母さんいつもアーカイブで見てるから気づかなかったわ. I would translate it something like "Mom always watches the archives, so I didn't notice." it seems strange to me as to why the translator used "don't think" and "yet".
