So you're saying that a mine shaft collapsing is inherently more dangerous then a faulty pressure cooker exploding, someone loosing control of their vehicle or in the case of an adventurer being ambushed by some monster.I just used the same argument you did. A rare and statistically irrelevant event. If you think that's a strawman, that's on you.
And my point was that that observation is irrelevant. If any job can be dangerous, it's not a useful quality to discuss.
My original point when talking about something dangerous, I was talking about something that has a high risk of death or severe injury, to the point where how risky it is is a main point of evaluation. That's not true for working in a kitchen. It's also not true for working as a smith. It is true for working in a mine. It's also true for working as an adventurer (and related jobs).
All I'm poorly attempting to say is that you're generalizing to much and reality is more nuanced. True a poorly run mine will almost inevitably lead to a collapse, just as a poorly run kitchen will lead to food poisoning and or worker fatalities. All job sites can be dangerous if ran poorly, and even the safest one can suffer catastrophic accidents.
