".....Again?"

"Yes, again."

Speaking of which, the blackmail material feels so mundane, at least doesn't feel like something worth paying fifty million yen, nor murder. Unless there's something more to this.

Doesn't Conan always ask someone (usually it's Ran) to watch the door to prevent that exact situation?

Imagine if Conan did look behind and notices nobody's actually hiding behind the door, but he kept silent as an excuse to hold the other two as potential culprit. :lul:

I think it has to do with public face for the politician, which is much more serious in Japan. I assume that photo can legitimately ruin his career since his family's conduct reflects on himself as the patriarch, and shows he's inadequate to have power if he can't control his own family.

I'm more curious about the actor's deal. 50 million yen translates to roughly $300,000 USD. How much is that sports brand paying him and what the heck is the penalty fee!? Are all endorsements that high!?

Next part:
Japanese reader: "Oh, I get it. Clever, well played Conan."
Non-Japanese reader: "Ehhh?"

I don’t get it. What’s this meme?
The explanation makes perfect sense for the Japanese due to specifically using Japanese language while confusing those that don't speak Japanese. The inverse is true too, "terochichimomo" to us is "coffee" while it's complete nonsense for the Japanese that doesn't speak English.

That's also why Time is Money is harder to guess for Japanese people than for occidentals who speak Japanese.

How, generally, codes don't translate well because its usually very dependent on the original language. So they need a looong explanation by the translators in the afterword. If you go back to to the very early era of Conan, you'll notice a lot more cases that feature codes, its been a mainstay of detective stories since Sherlock Holmes afterall, but when it became apparent that Conan was popular in other countries and languages you can see codes start to get used less.
