@Garo64

I just realized, you are proposing to use the exact same modus operandi of Cookie Revolution Scans, one of the most infamous and unpopular Watermarking scanslation groups.

I don't think what you want to do is going to work because it's been done before.

They literally did what you proposed except more extreme, they slapped these giant Watermarks advertising their group and trolling manga aggregators. Problem being that's ALL they seemed to care about, screwing over Manga aggregator traffic. Their scans were extremely unpopular because the watermarkings covered the Manga art. Ultimately the group never got popular or enough donations and support and is pretty dead.

Not really I'm not a fan of water marks covering the whole page

I was thinking the example would be more on point the idea is to add jokes / troll comment that point out what aggregators do.
It would be counter productive if it ware in the for of a water mark as to many ppl filter them out automatically so i think its a better way to incorporate them in the picture so it wont affect the page to a big extent but is there

the thing is if no one dos noting nothing will change

@Holo

what in that example is a water mark ? i realize I rushed the example it can be done better, the point is it should not be a water mark in the 1st place for the reason i mention before and also ppl don't react positively to them I'm the same in that aspect

I see it more like a signature of the scanlators that informs the reader

And yeah the kissmanga troll was the inspiration

@Garo64 None of your examples are watermarks as such, I was speaking more generally with regards to what I have seen other groups do before.

my first thought when looking at your page examples is that you are advertising for those sites. Of the three you used for examples I was only aware of one, now I or someone else would be aware of two others.

Maybe I am not completely understanding how scantalations work. Except the groups who actually ask for permission from the creator / owner, aren't they actually stealing too. I've seen the first page on multiple mangas request that people not post on whatever site so they don't get noticed.

You're right, the majority of scanlators do not have permission.

However, there is a key difference between us and those aggregators - they use ads to profit from scanlators' work, and we don't.

what you say is true. How much money do the creators make off this site and the aggregators?

Also some scanlators ask for money in their works. For some it is still probably a loss, but given the reach of their work on this site and others I would guess many, if they are truly honest and accurately monitor costs, come out on the plus side for what is a hobby. Not saying it's a living but pays for the pizzas on Fridays or pays for the raws they want to read. Just look at the charity sites, even the woe is me I stubbed my toe stories usually get some money for the person.

For me it is not a large deal although I still think it is free advertising for the other sites more then anything else. I guess for me when I read the comments he wants to add the wording made me laugh since I see it as "hey they're stealing the stuff I stole"
