Consider this. How many people in our current society actually have combat experience with cold weapons ?
Then exclude everyone who has sufficient income or wealth to not need to get this job.
Then exclude everyone that... might not act accordingly, ie murderers and other criminals.
Then exclude everyone who actually has a job or otherwise too busy to do something like that.
And so forth.
How many (if any) people are actually left at this time ?
Isn't it easier to start all over again with simple categories ?
Reasonably fit.
In need of money.
Psychologically stable.
Quick on the uptake.
Immediately way more choices.
We have yet to know whether SOSE operates in just Earth and that world or if he's already visited two separate worlds, or if SOSE acts in many worlds. If it's just Earth and that other world, then maybe he just was a good match. If they match freely from other worlds, then he was either chosen or random. But there has been no mention of the customers actually having a say in choosing who to help them, other than maybe choosing someone with a specific track record or maybe a ranking or something similar. We don't actually know yet how they're contacted or contact SOSE or whoever SOSE are in that world, so there's too little information yet.
