While finishing the Nod-Krai Act IV archon quest,
The Marionnette (aka Sandrone) make a quite good resume about the "story" of Narzissenkreuz.
who, at the end, asked me this question.

The question is ... kinda deep (i guess). So i though we could elaborate it (even a little) in this thread.

Not gonna lie, i never excepted Genshin to ask me such deep and philosophical question.

"i could care less about the world, i just don't want to die"

"this world is a horrible place, it deserve to be destroyed.
i see no reason for it to be saved, even if it means sacrificing every bit of goodness in this land.
alas, i am now part of the world, and i don't want to die. i'll see what i can do."

I don't play Genshin, so I need more context.
What is the hypothetical situation here?

Is it like
"oh, there is a nuclear bomb that will shatter the earth, and the stop button is happen to be in front of me,
will I push it because I don't want to die" kind of thing?

That question is wrong in a fundamental level (I think that was the meme from some time ago), I don't know how accurated is the translation from Chinese but on a linguistical level that sentence lacks logic.

I don't think this question is that deep, really. It's just...obtuse? Vague? Essentially the asker is expecting you not to think about the concept of context and wants you to answer off the sentence alone.

This is entirely dependent on the situation and person. How much drive does that person have to actually do that? Are they averse to pain? Are they a manipulator? What resources do they have? Is it ONLY the desire to save themselves? How selfish are they, usually? Too many factors go into a question like this that the asker expects you not to think about.

Even in the most basic context, someone doing something for themselves doesn't need justification for it other than they want to do it for themselves. Like really, imagine that conversation.

"So, young hero! Why do you want to save the world?"

"I just don't wanna die."

"Is that really good reason?"

"I like being alive so yes."

What would you even say to rebut that? Who would even care?

The term "Justification" doesn't even really mean anything in this context. That term only has power if there's someone above you to enforce standards and practices, someone you have to answer and give your reasons to and that doesn't appear to be the way the asker is using it.

Instead it sounds to me like it's just there to make things appear more complicated than it really is. This whole question seems like a flowery way of asking if someone motivated by selfishness could do something good and the answer is yes, they could. As a side-effect.

"So careful of the type?" but no.
From scarped cliff and quarried stone
She cries, "A thousand types are gone:
I care for nothing, all shall go.

"Thou makest thine appeal to me:
I bring to life, I bring to death:
The spirit does but mean the breath:
I know no more." And he, shall he,

Man, her last work, who seem'd so fair,
Such splendid purpose in his eyes,
Who roll'd the psalm to wintry skies,
Who built him fanes of fruitless prayer,

Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creation's final law —
Tho' Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek'd against his creed —

Who loved, who suffer'd countless ills,
Who battled for the True, the Just,
Be blown about the desert dust,

Or seal'd within the iron hills?
No more? A monster then, a dream,
A discord. Dragons of the prime,
That tare each other in their slime,
Were mellow music match'd with him.

O life as futile, then, as frail!
O for thy voice to soothe and bless!
What hope of answer, or redress?
Behind the veil, behind the veil.

That's my answer

Do you even need a justification to save the world? Like, you did it, congrats!

It's a "battle shonen that try to be deep"-level philosophy question, therefore i'll say nothing.

Are you sure you don't want to talk about the ethics of medical clinical trials, organ donation or usefull stuff like that ?

The only justification you need in life is lolis:
@Mr_Detective really needs to make a sequel, but he's currently DEAD. Also wish the MangaDex channel had more videos.

This is such a dumb question, that I keep stumbling over, "Surely, I'm misreading it. Or else this is mistranslation."

Basic Logic:
Saving yourself: Good
Saving the world: Good
No conflict between the two? Double-good!

There's zero moral conflict. How is this in any way a 'deep' question?

If there was a nuclear weapon that was going to blow up the Earth in 10 seconds, and the stop button was right in front of me,
yeah, I'd press it.
What's so hard about that?
If the stop button was 10 meters away from me: uh, yeah, I'd run to press it.
If the stop button was 100 meters away: well, I'm no Usain Bolt. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make it.
But I'd probably still try to sprint to it.

If the stop button was 1 kilometer away
well
