I honestly find it good for the plot if bad decisions (sometimes) have irreversible consequences. I also wondered what the blond guy was on about. "Im holding back, that was rude.". If it wasnt a life death situation, sure, all in good fun. But wasnt it emphasized from the beginning that anyone could die?

Let me make some predictions

1.- There is a connection between "the other side", maybe they send a hero/sacrifice each amount of time so they can keep using their powers
2.- The "organization" keeps completely in secret the other world because "knowledge is power" or because is an infohazard or just because the plot requires it, even using magic to manipulate the students

3.-Demons are generated because the usage of magic

4.- The organization or the family of the FMC find the MC a nuisance and that is why it was chosen but never expected to return to earth so when they confirmed his identity and that he was capable of using magic decided to alienate him and probably will try to kill him

6.- A person that is against the organization (maybe a previous hero) sent MC back and will continue to provide help from the other world every time the plots requires it

4. Excluded MC from the boss fight even though it was made clear many times that they are understaffed right now and need the help
