Man, so much of this doesn't make sense. If the Marquis couldn't kill him, then what exactly would they have done to him if he didn't drink the poison? Didn't they already treat him like shit? How would he know he had a slow-acting poison from a magic he didn't know existed until he literally just got it seconds ago? How does his brother have both water and healing magic? Why bother healing someone if you think they're dead, and you could just have maids or water magic clean the carpets? How would one even heal a dead body? If they bury their bodies, why would he have the remains of his mother's cremation? For that matter, why would they let him keep his mother's remains at all? And the timing of an ally in the exact same position at the exact same time, not even trying at this point

Usually water magic also comes with healing magic in manga and he just didn't want his "filthy" blood to stain the house. And obviously he's going to immediately find an ally that's basically in the exact same position because that's just the most common Trope in this kind of manga.
