I'm getting tired of these too-many-women settings.
The thing is, mangas already shower us with potential harem members and very few male friends for the MC.
If anything, these skewed-ratio worlds are a better explanation for that phenomenon.

Is there a way of doing the opposite ratio and making it interesting instead of a horrorshow?
Though a women-heavy setting is at least sustainable. Hard to go past 3:1 in the other direction and not have the population collapse after one generation.

No I can imagine settings that make it work, it's just that they're horrorshows.
For example, you could have the population get replenished via cloning vats, except then the question becomes "why not clone equal amounts of men and women?", so maybe then women are only cloned for personal use by politicians?
So yeah, horrorshow.

But maybe someone else could come up with something interesting?

I guess you could have a Vandread-type situation, but that's going to be more like a 999999:1 ratio, with men not even recognizing what a woman is.

Do you mean make it a fantasy? I know 1:5 and 1:39 are both isekais as both of those stories have main characters from a normal Earth that were transported to their new worlds.
