Oh no. This was real despair-inducing. And apparently the guy he didn't help out comes right around and kills his parents. Brutal.

As we already knew the police chief at the end is part of the society and his dad appearently had evidence of everything that happened in the society and knew he would get killed by them.

I assume the kid was approached by them and got a reward for killing them or least pretending he did to make the crime seem unconnected tot he society.
