It's tough because she probably didn't have the reasoning power needed to fix things using "regular" time travel back then but...

Regular time travel would never have resulted in her existing while her entire past self disappeared.

Maybe her power works better/worse than regular time travel? Like the deal isn't just time travel, it's time travel to a spot that will ruin shit without enough magic and time travel to a point where things will go well with a bullet.
