Bullying does happen in some schools, but to clarify, there sure as fuck ain't a CASTE SYSTEM LMAO. Though this is what I experienced at my school. The USA is big. Geez, why the fuck are you guys dogpiling me for my personal experience?
Answering months later, but anyway...
Because you are projecting your personal experience as a general experience.
Also, our society is in certain ways a caste system. I mean, Japan does not have the literal caste system by definition (I mean, one with legal bases), they have social caste system and we have this in all countries in the world. The concept of minority is exactly about a caste system.
That said... True freedom is also an illusion, not only in Japan or in USA

and the same could be applied to Japan. Again, there is no literal hierarchical system in Japan. Just the same kind of social hierarchy we have everywhere.

I meant in schools silly me. tldr: animango/fiction depicts this goofy ass social hierarchy among kids, this also is something western media depicts but in reality it's probably nonexistent/small.
