I think calling this Yuri is overstating things . . . rather a lot. This is just gals being pals, just two girls being roommates, but actually only that. They never kiss, never confess, and the affection they have for one another feels more like codependancy than anything healthy or particularly romantic. The author only seems comfortable portraying any recognisably romantic scenes when one of the characters is deliberately cross-dressing, too.
Like, I know that they have a bunch of other works in anthologies that are tagged as yuri, but I don't have any confidence based on this work that the rest of their work is worth it. I get the feeling they might be comfortable depicting butch 4 femme lesbians . . . if they knew that such a dynamic existed. As it is, the author feels very straight.
