They grew fat and lazy from their comforts, for they knew not how truly outmatched they were...

  • Armor, acquired at the best possible quality for the cheapest possible prices
  • Weapons, enough to use like cheap throwing knives against entire armies
  • Secure planning, with regiments and defenses tailored especially to each leader under her command
  • Budgets and pay well above what can be considered average, even against her own paycheck

She was a flawless leader, twisted and tattered like a cheap doll, only to be snatched away by the cruel hunger of fate and forced to retire early. Shame that her kingdom is likely to die with her vacant position.

Hot damnnnn the Kingdom mightiest forces couldn't hold their own for a single day... and apparently the deterrence was a "symbolic" knight pretty much kept away from the front lines. I kinda hope this is some kind of cherry picked special unit, because if not then this kingdom is doomed when others invade.

We are pretty clearly missing something because I don't think Lienna has appeared strong enough to warrant another nation holding off on invading. Lienna's own recollection is that she never fought on the frontline so either she's lying to us the reader for no particular reason or she did something casually that instilled fear in the other nations.
It's simply the symbol of having a knight commander, and elf mommy is probably both well traveled and worldly experienced given she's of a long lived race to understand how much of an impact that symbol carries. Story also started with only our MC going on investigation to secure the area of monsters, for the royal family at that, so it's not as though her strength is completely unknown. I do think there should of been more world building to set the stage for this as it felt rushed.

Best swordsmanship? Excellent in magic and strategy? Who cares! Their only duty will be to do paperwork 24/7 and be nothing more than a figurehead anyway.

And if the knight commander was such a strong and amazing deterrent, why the fuck would the rest of the knights badmouth her? Though judging by the boy's reaction when the elf mentioned that, seems none of them ever thought that far. Right. Further establishes the fact that they're all idiots.

I'm torn. on one hand the tail attack was kinda cool, on the other hand it would suck to see the nation ruined, then again they abused the heck outta the knight commander so its karma, but in counter to that elf-san isnt wrong, that would make a pretty good bit of propaganda...

how many hands am I at? I dunno which side of this fight I am supposed to cheer for lmao
Even more troublesome when you consider the regular citizens likely have no idea she was being abused at her workplace like that. They weren't complicit in it, as far as we know. And yet they're the ones taking the brunt the hardest.

MC country, by the end of the series she tames the dragon, fights the invaders off,the country thanks her, gives her the highstest honorary title and the King asks her "what are you gonna do now?" -"Well... i am taking some Days off in the Dragon's Stomach" fade to black and a picture of her and dragon buddy (or husband I'll take either) in the future THE END :meguupog::meguupog::clap::clap::aquadrink:

I didn't really expect them to be reappearing characters, but I don't mind an OP elf :meguu:

That being said, this chapter was pretty serious/high-stakes compared to our laid-back dragon stomach residents. I hope this situation doesn't catch up with them any time soon, because Lienna would 100% feel guilty about it. Not to mention, the elf seems to be on another level: I'd assume Lienna is about the same strength as those vice commanders, so she'd probably be met with the same fate.
I don't mind manga about powerful elf mages, but that'd be quite the different title compared to the initial premise...

Thanks for the upload!

Yo, give me back my slice-of-life manga of the poor knight commander finally getting to relax.

We are pretty clearly missing something because I don't think Lienna has appeared strong enough to warrant another nation holding off on invading. Lienna's own recollection is that she never fought on the frontline so either she's lying to us the reader for no particular reason or she did something casually that instilled fear in the other nations.

Was Claire that same girl that kept Lienna from living a normal life? I mean I guess I like that she got murked and the whole country is gonna be destroyed. It just feels kind of anticlimactic. Presumable the knights that got killed were the strongest below Lienna but like if they're not that strong how could Lienna be strong or be trained to be that strong. Lienna has been swamped in paper work since becoming the commander and doesn't have time to train. How could she possibly have gotten stronger or stayed as strong as before under these circumstances?

i would guess something big did happen but because she was too tired at the time, she may have thought it was something normal.

the first frame of chapter 1 does show her killing a squad of demon/oni...alone

Fairly common lapse in logic caused by a sense of normality honestly. "Why do we need this preventing thing? Thing never happens."

I mean, she did mention that as long as she could use a sword there was little she could cut. It’s most likely that while she didn’t go to the front lines she may have accomplished a widespread impressive feat in the past. She kinda implies that had she not been sleep deprived she may have been able to fight off the dragon a little

Lienna: Th-Thank you, Days off in the Dragon's Stomach™
Amon: ...What?
Lienna: Because, um... you helped me take some days off in the dragon's stomach.
Amon: Oh, yeah.

RIP Marzul the family man; I feel bad for mentally badmouthing him for being scruffy. Hopefully Claire survives. Tail-chan is hot. This is interesting enough, but I wonder how it ties back into Lienna's vacation without ending it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this plot is going to lead to Lienna being rescued. The major point of this chapter is about the catharsis of people finally learning how bad she had it also has other consequences that hurts/kills a lot of unrelated people. The author already hinted that her vacation guide grew up in the stomach and wants to leave, so we'll probably see the plots converge.

She was shown being in the field before she became knight-commander, fighting against monsters, beginning first chapter. So, a monster that got chained down by bullshit because becoming Knight-Commander was NOT what she expected it to be.

Edit: Yeah, chapter 8, she notes she hasn't been sent to the frontlines since she became Knight-Commander, so she cut her teeth in a horrifying manner prior to the promotion.
