Honestly, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Breaking it down from my perspective, it's essentially a story about "hey what if we were saved from utter destruction and so we treat our saviors really well no matter what they do to us because we need to express our 'gratitude' and anything is better than simply being erased from existence"?
Not to mention the fact that, since the manga is called Drama Queen, it's possible that it could go the other direction - what if this is all just them blowing stuff out of proportion? We never actually see her get hurt at all by the aliens, only the aftermath. Same with the guy. We're working with limited info.
I hope it'll continue to be interesting, honestly. I mean, if anything, this reminds me more of how the Britain conquered some countries by just associating and placing themselves in the higher echelons of societies like in India. A diplomatic win rather than a violent one.
