Honestly, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Breaking it down from my perspective, it's essentially a story about "hey what if we were saved from utter destruction and so we treat our saviors really well no matter what they do to us because we need to express our 'gratitude' and anything is better than simply being erased from existence"?
Not to mention the fact that, since the manga is called Drama Queen, it's possible that it could go the other direction - what if this is all just them blowing stuff out of proportion? We never actually see her get hurt at all by the aliens, only the aftermath. Same with the guy. We're working with limited info.

I hope it'll continue to be interesting, honestly. I mean, if anything, this reminds me more of how the Britain conquered some countries by just associating and placing themselves in the higher echelons of societies like in India. A diplomatic win rather than a violent one.

this is unlikely to go anywhere. the longest runtime it is likely to have is if it keeps walking the line that's upsetting people for as long as possible. if it leans one way or the other it will very quickly lose the engagement it's built, because whatever agenda is being pushed will anger one of two groups of people, who will leave in anger, and then the other group will have nobody to argue about it with and stop reading it.

I would hope that the Japanese aren't as politically brainrotted as Americans to have granted it notoriety on account of its purported social commentary.

Can you actually digest what you put your eyes on instead of kneejerk reacting to keywords? You quoted me giving three criteria that I linked together, then only addressed one of them as if a refutation of that would ruin my point.

Never mind that immigrants-- legal or otherwise-- aren't a consistently a favored group, and aren't uniformly favored (considering that they aren't a homogenous category by any metric).

If it's anything it's white people, particularly Americans. Probably influenced a bit by the base at Okinawa. To a lesser extent it could extend to foreigners in general, particularly and primarily wealthy ones.

The guy's argument was turning into one of semantics. Yes, actually, immigrants DO heavily influence society, and are more than capable of occupying positions of power. There is an ongoing problem in Canada where Indian immigrants, once given positions of power (i.e. manager), will hire exclusively their own. Indian immigrant landlords will purposefully overcrowd flats.

Immigrants are also consistently favoured by the establishment. In England, and indeed many places across Europe, migrants are given money, food, water and shelter in 5-star hotels over the actual citizens. In Britain, people have consistently voted to bring down immigration when they got the Tories in power in 2010. There has only been an explosive increase in migration to Britain, both legal and illegal, since. They have been given priority over actual British people. Immigrants from the third world are cheap, easily-exploitable individuals that allow for big businesses to profit off, so obviously they're fine with mass immigration, and deem any opposition "racist".

In Brampton, Canada, a city now populated mostly by Indian immigrants, police notices and announcements are given in Hindi. Another example of them being favoured.

The power wielded by migrants in their ability to guilt-trip whites into hiring them by simply calling them racist (or certain behaviours racist) is documented. Regardless, if the only difference for him between it being "mass immigration" and "colonisation" is that the aliens brought advanced technology and immigrants bring low-value labour, then my point remains. In ethnically displacing a native population, you are colonising them. Mass immigration is a type of this - be it done by whites, blacks, Arabs, Asians, etc.

Hello person scrolling through the comments to take a look at the coping and seething done by other individuals to try and ascribe this work of fiction to their own view point. Remember, fiction is a great place to explore ideas in a vacuum, and many here can't seem to wrap their brains around that, and as such, begin to bring outside factors into the discussion. Be sure to ignore all of these points, for they are the seeds of delusion, because by ascribing any one group or government in place of the aliens they forget that the Mangaka hasn't yet told the audience who or what the aliens are actually an allusion to. I remind you mainly so that these seeds do not take root, and that you will not feel anger later on when your thoughts on the series are proven incorrect. Also the basis of the series is murdering and eating aliens.

It's not something I've imagined it's something I have gathered from how the manga has set up the alien characters and how they want us to look at them, that may be cope but whatever, I could be wrong
Edit: right after reading your comment I read the chapter again and it seems the reason he killed the alien is because he was assaulted and instead of apologizing the alien just screamed at him there is no mention that he wasn't using japanese and it actually implied he was so it seems like your also doing a teeny bit of imagining (it's probably just misremembering tho). I'll definitely try to keep the projecting my own biases on media and stuff like that to a minimum and try to notice when I'm doing it because that does seem pretty toxic so thanks for the advice
