Seems weird to see a story about evil aliens and come to the conclusion that it's a "xenophobic alt-right metaphor".

To me, that says a lot more about you and the others with similar takes, than it does the manga.
BASED MANGA, i hope the media literacy squad get their hands on this one because shit will be hilarious

can't wait for the aliens to fake hate crimes againast aliens
or say that it's alien-phobic to want humans' lives to matter
It’s most likely the aliens are supposed to be Americans in Japan.

It's pretty obvious. It's not the first manga doing this kind of dehumanizing scthick, maybe not as obvious as "go eat them", but this kind of theme has been around for ages.

Which is based on freak incidents the us army did very poor immediate self policing work on. like the Ehime Maru.

Public outrage following these incidents did lead to fairly severe consequences for the military involved and legal battles led to retributions being paid by the us govt... and internal changes which is big considering how much cuntery americans generally get away with.

It's "strangers" in general as it blankets multiple societal problems and blames it on ONE group.
japanese conservative xenophobia is quite robust, given they clearly rather run their demographics into the ground than allow changes.

What's clear is that we have a big bad ugly awfull stranger trope driving the aliens design.
they havent been given a single redeeming trait to a comical degree.
Basically wuxia tier evil baddies.

let's see how this thing pans out... it could be good, it could be racist trash.

I know everyone here is sick of the political arguments, but as a person that just checked this out to see what the fuss is about...
Why the hell is this called a racist/n*zi manga, if I have to make it political, it is about foreign colonization and capitalism. As a Southeast asian, westerners acted like the alien in this

I heard the controvers
Dunno how you got that from it, felt more like an anti-colonialism message to me.
Outsiders with vastly superior technology used said technology to place themselves at the top of the social strata, disadvantaged natives quite literally eat the rich. Feels pretty straightforward to me.
I heard the controversy around this manga and honestly im shocked this is what offended ppl so much lol the aliens are rude dickhead invaders who probably staged their heroism. Even un==in the first few chapter it's clear the aliens treat the humans as subjects to be ruled over

Wonder why the Americans specifically took offence at this? Why did their own identity come up in their head? Do they secretly think that of themselves?

I've been reading a little more about it out there and I'm perplexed how people is trying to make this manga like it's the best manga ever when it's pretty much what a child would write for an Scorsese movie. I know the internet nowadays is full of volunteers for the brownshirts, specially in anime forums, but come on, how starved of some media piece giving your worldview a pass you are to make this your very own pulitzer, it's pathetic.

It's a real sign of the times that this is being talked so much when Gintama had the same setup. The thing is no one remembers that about Gintama but instead how genuely fun it is. If this was released 10-15 years ago, it would have been axed and no one would remember it. But because american politics have rotted everyone's minds, we have to have this thing being discoursed around.

I know there are interesting details like how the group ignores the fact that the human client is also a con artist which technically put both him and the alien on the same level. But given what's being done until now I think it will be developed more of a "it makes you think" family group chat video than a really interesting plot.

We'll see, but for now this manga is lukewarm at best. Don't get sweeped under the brainrot.

Beyond the poorly handled Southeast Asia colonialism metaphor that is supposed to exist (according to some people) which boils down to straight up xenophobia, the manga is just not that interesting, the art is decent enough, the comedy isn't funny, the story has gotten stale the characters aren't really interesting. I can appreciate how the aliens are drawn in a different style, Takopi's Original Sin type beat.
