Doesn't make it feel like any less of a handwavy excuse of a plot point, tbh. Not to mention, it being mentioned now, instead of before the past what, 30 or so chapters where it was the giant elephant in the room, doesn't exactly matter much, and makes it feel like it's less intentional and more the author just justifying it after the fact. Is the reader supposed to read this text bubble from the future for an explanation?

what kind of bs excuse is that? this feels like the author is just trying to make the story have unneeded hardships for the characters to go through. it’s stupid that a person who has the power to draw anything and everything, can’t draw everything without any proper explaination on why he can’t do so

AKSHULLYIE ☝️🤓, we've known since late chapter 24 - early chapter 25. Doesn't make it any less of an absolute copout though.

Baron... i thought that he did want to refuse to get titles and just have a nice life. it feels enforced which i kinda hate.
they could have reward him with money, tools or whatever. but a title sounds like more work than it is worth for him.
sorry but i find it hard to see him being fine to turn into a noble.

It doesn't, but it at least makes it a well prepared copout; the author knew exactly how low stakes he'd accidentally made things by giving Akira the ability to freely acquire literal cure-alls, so he took it away as soon as narratively possible without just straight up retconning it.

Political move too. In other stories of this kind, not awarding Akira with this much, for dealing with an enemy that whole armies of the royals and aristocracy struggled with, would negatively impact the reputation of the royal family as well. He can protest all he wants, but they'll probably make him accept it one way or another. It's also easier to push a marriage with someone with a title and fiefdom into the royal family. Plus his achievement, no one would protest except for the Queen's political opponents and the leaders of the other nations trying to monopolize Akira's power.

Tbh, I'll be honest, I'd forgotten about that scene. So I'm a bit more okay with it so long as it's actually foreshadowed that far in advance, though (unless I just forgot about these as well) I don't remember it being brought up again after that, which considering there was a year of publication gap between that + the Karinz stuff, might've been good to have as a refresher.

Especially since that scene at least doesn't clarify on whether it's all items in general or just a side effect of elixirs being too powerful that caused it to burst into flame, the fact that they just kinda tabled having Akira actually investigate it any further there might've been why I don't remember that at all.

Oh absolutely. Giving us exactly 2 pages and 1 panel as an "explanation" and immediately bringing in the mom to change the subject is, like I said, grade-A copping out. "Could it be because of the change in my mana... could that be the cause?" is an absolutely dogshit excuse to have him be unable to just spam elixirs whenever. Like really? There was just NO possible way around it? Couldn't just get tougher scrolls? Couldn't learn to control output? Didn't even bother testing with other items? "Nahp, scroll burn, too bad" and now people around him are suffering.
My issue with the whole situation was never "it was never explained", it was "the excuse given was terrible and the fact that he didn't even TRY to think of a solution and instead just letting everything HAPPEN to him annoys me to no end". I maintain what I said here, author wrote themselves into a corner all the way back in chapter 2 and we've been suffering from the narrative debt since.

I sometimes forget that Akira is practically a child for all intends and purposes; despite having lived upwards of up to 30 plus years or at least 20 years. So figuring out situations like he's in is equitant to throwing a wrench to a baby then expecting it to build an engine. Then again, with the power of the internet, public libraries, mandatory school, post-study... oh, wait, my b.
Akira is bit on the spectrum isn't he ?
