Seems they are more worried about him being manipulated by the foreign countries he spent a lot of time living and studying in. Also take into account that he has ambition enough to seek to claim the throne that originally only went to princesses, the attempt at Medis's life and he was able to convince the current queen to give him a legit bid for the throne and yeah even if he's not evil he is very much a threat in a sense.
Now granted, this does not make him a bad guy. He could have used those other countries as a means to strengthen and educate himself for the sake of his country, he legitimate believe that the country needs a ruler who is powerful in magic to combat the current threat (which as far as we know, Medis is not), he could have had nothing to do with what some fanatic members of his faction attempted on Medis and not to mention, Katya (though they tried to downplay it) is not entirely trustworthy, is a hypocrite, narrow-minded (same as she claimed Akira to be), and willing to do underhanded stuff to get what she desires (tbh though, I would have gladly fallen into that honey trap, she IS pretty hot). Oh and she's a liar, she was doing exactly what Medis thought she was doing and in fact trying to do something indecent.
Katya did that under Medis' wishes. While she's skeptical at first, Seeing Akira's true talent and powers (which exceeded Medis' stories) only further reinforced the idea that Akira should be in the kingdom putting his powers to good use.
One thing to know is that if your child has a magical potential he should study in the magic academy. The only reason akira didn't is because his mana broke and he pretty much hide it but now that it's been known, he should abide to the law of the kingdom as dirty selfish it might be. It also one of the reasons why Medis thought Akira was mad at her. Don't get me wrong tho, What they did is not good, but Medis really just pushed into corner to the point she has to broke the promise she made with akira.
As to why Medis broke the promise, you'll see in the later chaps why she was forced to play Akira to the table.

I do think they did a pretty poor job of motivating why the prince ascending to the throne is bad other than "eeh, it'll become like a puppet state or something". Like, ok, why is that bad for regular people? And if that's such a bad thing, why would the queen allow him to become a candidate to the throne in the first place? Is she just a big dum-dum who doesn't understand politics? Katia understands politics much better than the queen? Wut? And if Medisfina just stepped aside, he wouldn't have tried to kill her. If turning the country into a magical powerhouse is what's necessary to protect it from the existential threat of the Oder, and Medisfina stands in the way of that happening, then assassinating her seems like the right thing to do, honestly. Better her than the country getting wiped out by a horde of magical monsters.
Ngl this is a valid take regarding of choosing the next ruler logically and not traditionally if one didn't know actual conspiracy happening their world.
Also, the Heroes are real forces to be reckoned with that's why people respects them and worships past heroes' legends.

Also, Katya actually didn't tell anyone else about Akira's powers. At this point of the story, Only Medis, Katya, Proll, Aria and Akira's parents knows his powers.
Edit: the singularities also knows as well, no not because Katya indirectly made a situation where they saw it, the summoner who Akira fought as a child already told the other about Akira's abnormal powers

I'm very unsure how I feel about their relationship. However, I'm glad they didn't completely swipe his feelings under the rug like sooooooo may other mangas do, just forcing the ML to comply and playing it off as a joke. I hope they agree to a sort of "trial period". There's plenty of time between now and graduation after all, no need to totally commit

Nah, there's a reason why they think that the prince is a threat and a bad person. You'll see in the later chaps.
That doesn't really matter, since they don't explain that reason to the MC and he's just like "sure, sounds good!!"

Medis asked for her to obtain his support, not blackmail his family and force him to come. The ACTUAL reason Akira didn't go was because of his desire to not stand out and live a normal life. His mother and father might have convinced him to go but it seems even his father isn't too thrilled about him going to the academy. That's his decision of whether or not he should abide by the law or keep hiding and doing what he originally wanted to do.
She could have been prudent and give him all the details beforehand and thus possibly get his cooperation without doing what she did, but she did not. She messed up, and everything else has already been said. Nothing in what you tried to say excuses that.

Katya is really going all out trying to manipulate Akira into becoming Medis's vassal. I should really be Medis herself who convinces him. Though I hope he never will. Katya hasn't even mentioned any benefits, she's just trying to twist Akira's emotions into helping the damsel in distress, suggesting Medis has feelings for him and everything. That's so lowly.

IDY should have never bothered to give the protagonist a life goal, when he's just going to have all of the heroines back each other up to guilt Akira into abandoning his goals for their sake.
