I've checked the WN for this and It's like someone read AVALON and thought they could write a better one;
And they did. Story is VERY similar and every grievance you might have with AVALON doesn't exist here. He, not even once, gravel at some retards feet for starters lol.
Author actually put in an iron clad reasoning for him to keep the story intact. The strategy guide goes along with the game's story specially for the grind spots. Like, at some point, protag's (and school as well) needs to advance the floors which causes the main Japanese dungeon advancement team to progress in it as well.
For example, guide says "you need to grind floor 19 for x amounts of levels and when the story is in "x" stage, that floor will be mostly empty". So when he ignores the protags progress and follows the guide till that point, MC levels up but when he reaches that stage, he finds the said floor completely filled with people stronger then him grinding there. It's just like a MMO lvl grind spot. But since the story didn't advance properly, floor is not as empty as the guide suggests. So he is stuck. He proceeds to check on the protag's progress and help him if needed to keep the story moving.
But, again, at no point does he lowers himself or plays the simp for the girls. Hell, this ice bitch completely disappears for a good while. There is almost no romance. He goes legit solo because the guide is for those who follow it religiously (meaning following it without deviation) so outside of some tips, its not helpful for anyone but him unless they are starting fresh.
