Maybe the info transfer isn't immediate since it's so far away from the head, while both halves of the body are at different sides of a magic portal.

Trying to coordinate multiple brains should be complicated, and even if she got some info, it likely didn't reach as clearly and as fast as direct pain stimulus (being either images with thoughts, or a series of concepts being conveyed with panic, both likely dense with information she couldn't process in time while trying to appease her "employer"/creator on her end)
