@MetaGable in japanese folklore, dragons can transform into clams, and in this manga's lore, nightmare clams are technically still dragons. So when Thistle summoned every single dragon, it included nightmares!

The problem with two different species reproducing is that:
1.) Sperm can't fertilize egg
2.) Egg could get fertilized but offspring won't survive to adulthood
3.) Offspring that did survive to adulthood is infertile
4.) Offspring could be fertile but offspring's offsprings may not be and they probably carry sucky genes. Aside from being possibly infertile and having sucky genes, it just gets worse after every generation.

A fun fact about species is that it is a lot more fluid than one would expect. In fact, there are species which can hybridise between themselves with limited issues. Other than the hardline incompatibilities you highlight in point 1) / 2) and 3), a lot of what limits hybridisation between species of the same group (e.g. birds / fish) is actually behaviour (e.g. bird song, mate preference) and or geography rather than sex / gamete incompatibility.

Rather than fertile hybrid offspring resulting in worse each generation, hybridisation can actually increase genetic diversity of a population (i.e. less sucky genes / more better genes to cover up for the sucky genes). Most "unfit" offspring from hybridisations are considered "unfit" because of their environmental context rather than messed up health specifically.
--- e.g. hybrid butterflies being "unfit" because they stand out to predator birds because their wing colourings are too stand out.

In stories of humanoid - related hybridisations, Neanderthal genes in humans have been linked to risks such as depression, lesions, and other disorders but this is because of a change in our behaviour (staying indoors, less exercise) rather than the genes being inherently "sucky".

@delaprd I don’t remember which chapter, but the plan was to eat the dragon part of Farlyn so the red dragon couldn’t reassemble and resurrect, since they deemed the only parts of the dragon that wasn’t brought back to life, were the parts that they ate.

Oh wow, so this is what Marcille’s mother meant when she said that she would run at a different pace than others. At first I just thought that she would outlive her dad, but I didn’t think that she’d even be able to outlive other elves.

@Grahav "Hybrid Vigor" (Heterosis) is actually a defined concept in the field of evolutionary research. Its best know within plants, but it occurs elsewhere as well.

When looking at hybrids, its is also important to account for evolutionary histories of the genus involved (as it influences if individual species have had time to separate and evolve genetic (pre/post gamete infertility).

Example:
--- Panthera is estimated to have first started to diverge into its separate species (lions, tigers, jaguars) around 6.4 million years ago.
--- Equus species (donkey, horse) started diverging around 5 million years ago
--- The genus with humans (Homo) however only started diverging 3.4 million years ago and our species as we are now only started diverging from other species in the Homo genus 500,000 years ago. With introgressive mixing (where hybrids could reproduce back with either population) continuing until 50,000 or so years ago.

Its fair to say then that hybridisation between Pandera species =/= hybridisation between hominid species. These are fantasy races so its futile to really go deep on the outcomes of hybridisation between them when we have no idea how distant they are in evolutionary history, but it doesn't seem that unlikely for a "vigorous" hybrid coming of it.

...
just old lore thinking ...
Dragon is all powerful, but according to cliche and legend they are very territorial and greedy ...
bad move to summon so much conflicted powerful beast in same area ...

and ... heroes side get cooked ... literally ...

That's a cruel thing to turn something so tragic and make it hilarious.

That's a lot of dragons... one might say... a "Flight of Dragons"?

I'm expecting one of two things, either Laius uses his ecology knowledge to outsmart Thistle and take the book clean or he survives long enough for Kabru and Misurn to arrive and help him out.

If anyone can beat 15+ dragons and a max level sorcerer it's got to be teleport man.
