I think what they are trying to say is that he his main reason for doing so was because the sword was a (half) pretty girl and that otherwise he likely wouldn’t have killed himself. I don’t think they’re really questioning the strength of the relationship (for example, he could have a strong relationship with someone and still move on with his life). Though it doesn’t help that all his motivations come from pretty women - there’s naturally a correlation between the strength of the relationship and him killing himself but so far he hasn’t done so for any guys…. But you do make a point too

I'm choosing to view this as character depth.
He isn't making this decision -because- or -for- the Puppet Sword.
He's making it for himself.
He was trapped by this save&reset long enough for him to also feel trapped psychologically. It's his way of fixing problems. There is nothing outside of his revenge for him. If anything, it might have been too naive or optimistic for him to suddenly be able to leave it all behind. So, as a broken man, he will keep trying to fix his problems the only way he knows how, in order to once again attain companionship - the only positive thing he has experienced, even before being trapped.
And every future fumble he makes I will attribute it to self-sabotage in order to maintain his comfort zone.

I think the puppet sword gave up too early. We have seen it do partial evolution in the dungeon before so it just didn't get enough energy fur a full evolution yet. So either the split body screwed up the estimated energy to evolve, or it simply needs more people to become more human-like. Since MC already had his revenge, he could just let the puppet sword have all the kills in the village on the next loop.

He got his revenge. So now he throws it away so that he could save the puppet sword. You know, the puppet sword, the thing that betrayed him every single time before this. I think it's supposed to be easier to accept he would go through everything again just because it took on a female form? She's pretty, so of course the main character is going to try to save the pretty girl? Fuck that, the puppet sword is not worth saving

Well to be frank, the story was pretty dumb since the beginning, so no difference here.
It's definitely in the "so bad it's actually good" category

Too bad we don't have the "unintentional comedy" or "trash" tag.
