It is so refreshing that the king and other heroes are... people, not the cartoonish evil creatures that often appear in manga. Prominence is both a good friend and bound by prophecy, which is good, the heroes feel sad for the whole deal but also know that this must be done... even that one that is all for the elimination of the Black Dragon, still knows that this is complicated

Who would knew that this is a better adult story than the "adult" stories that sometimes show up... I specially like their take on the "kicked out of the party" trope

Probably whoever said the prophecy in the first place.

Cue some other old friend that is jealous of Van and Ryuka´s relationship and concocted this prophecy to have them fight... but someone misread the prophecy and overreacted... and now everyone is afraid of a demon lord that in reality does not care about war and such
