He got too sentimental, thinking he's going to be left all alone soon, with only the golems keeping him company. The exaggeratedly reverse gender roles also cause him some grief, even if his basic personality isn't overly macho, so it doesn't necessarily make his life awfully difficult. Like he said, he's lewd, so he would like to hit on the women, but in that world it's not proper and would deteriorate his relationship with that military company and make normal interactions with them harder. So, he just needed to get it all off his shoulders. I reckon if Gram had been more proactive and they had already spent nights together, he might not have said anything.
