Given they are asking 50,000 Yen per person, and AR glasses cost around 30,000 Yen at the lowest end, My assumption is that they are just supplying the software and intend to buy the AR glasses for the event. If they mostly get returned afterwards, then it's a large one time investment.
Really, the more interesting unspoken thing is how the two people giving lessons (since the other two are sales) are supposed to scale to execute a 2,000 person conference. Maybe the goal is just to provide the glasses for existing Expo's, but then I don't understand how the Cram School gets them the credibility.
startup is like that. if they got an idea that can be executed asap without too much risk they would go at it. low credibility is still a credibility it's better than being remembered as a crap company

ok here is my take:

the "event" they are organizing is part of their programming cram school portfolio. so except of solo-consultations, they want to offer an event where they convey their knowledge to a bunch of people all at once. that is the "event" in question. also makes sense with the contracts worth 50k participation fee per person that they were selling.

and the point of the glasses is to easily navigate a big venue without getting lost. if the glasses show you where what is, you won't have to run to every booth and check out if it's relevant to you or not.

and lastly, i think why ai thinks that "the situation is bad" is that the guy from the company they wanna sell a contract to is asking a tech question - and as we learned in the previous chapter, ryou did not understand anything regarding how sumamega works. so she will have to be the one to answer his question... and as she mentioned earlier in the chapter, she is socially awkward and very bad at this stuff. so "this situation is really bad" because she will have to take over again now and ryou cant help since he doesnt understand the technical part.

well, we'll see next chapter what the actual deal is, i'm just guessing.
pretty much like that i agree. to add that the real problem might be the glasses is indeed low quality so she can't really have the capability to sell it like it is actually good.

Are you sure someone won't come out and the glasses show they have some kind of 530,000 something-something?
Or worse, the glasses gonna blow out because of how huge the measurement number is?

You can use a map for that already. Or more exactly, you do use maps for that already. And besides that: no, you absolutely must check every booth either way! ;)

That would work, but really wasn't the vibes I got from it in terms of phrasing, grammar etc. Particularly because chapter ended there, and if it was just a minor thing like "I'll let our engineer answer that" type of answer.
even if it is true, you can't have that kind of mind set to sell a product. The hard part of marketing is to sway the customer to actually think they bought something good. The seller's real opinion should be thrown away. Lying is indeed bad but misdirection and hiding the truth is necessary.

And if you want to think "then why not selling some thing that actually beneficial to people?" The answer would be "you just can't". Being idealistic is not good in developing a company (this make me remember how monkey d. dragon being mocked by ignorant people because he didn't do a direct attack and looks slow)

Also, I'm glad they still have the "culture"

There is a difference in trying to invent a problem for a product you sell, vs saying inane things (a facial recognition hud makes you walk less) assuming the person would connect it to an unrelated existing problem (seeing a map) that is already solved (paper pamphlets) anyway.

not really. if it sell it sell. i seen many companies doing this. The more bigger company the more desperate they are trying to sell trash as a result of failed product. Both of them just want the company to have profit

I'm surprised that their startup even has the budget to develop AR glasses. Maybe it makes sense they have a couple of demo units and asking companies to invest so they can move to mass production later.
Given they're pushing an AI narrative and panic as soon as someone seems to know what he's talking about, they're obviously full of shit so there's no development budget to worry about.

As a programmer myself, please at least explain to us the product and the client we are going to meet. I also have been asked to suddenly join a meeting. Good thing I am still a junior, so I don’t need to say anything, but I have no idea what's going on in the meeting.
