Does indeed sound like she's over cleaning. I'd get sweeping and wiping the floors/seats/taps/door handles etc several times a week and all the counters in the kitchen daily but most rooms like bathrooms probably only need to be deep cleaned once or twice a week if you're super fussy like sensei. I guess the author had to justify what lucille does all day.

Seems like the kiddo is gonna be learning the hard truth that when you're getting paid for a job you won't necessarily have friendly clients (but also professional boundaries). I do see why her parents were against letting her do this.
I don't think she really wants to be a Maid though, pretty sure its just an excuse to be near the old man. That said I agree with you the over cleaning is actually real here.

This is such a weird arc post rapey-foreful rich man arc. Very predictable and kinda wheel spinny.

Kinda hope that jealous minor going after someone probably 10 times her age isn't constant part of the story 😐

It is. Meals especially seem to be a lot and fairly elaborate. However, she is no doubt cleaning and doing more by choice than is strictly necessary -- like, does she truly need a garden? You can only clean so many things in the house too.
Do you mean that she doesn't need to tend his garden, or (as you wrote) that they don't need a garden?

Because, yeah; they need a garden.
Just FYI, but people still need gardens; before the 1950s, even in the US, people living outside of town nearly always had gardens... or they were hungry.

Outside of the US, and many places in the US, people still need a garden if they want to have fresh vegetables.

Hell, I just picked about $30(USD) of tomatoes about an hour ago...
Worldwide, not having a garden is weird.
