No but checking the LN it seems the manga diverges a lot from it as the LN seems to be strait romance and the manga had to include a harem.

The mangaka did his best considering how little material he had to work it. It's a shame because I thought the novel had more potential than the author's other longer work.

It's just 2 volume long, serving more as a concept or idea than an actual story.

Volume 1 had the witch and hero initially be hostile to each other but later making amends as it's revealed that they do care for each other.

Volume 2 was mostly about a misunderstanding that ended with them getting together with their friends egging them on.

interesting premise

Whereas we got someone who has already lived a full life and has put his boundaries toward the other girls in his life.
Supposed to be mature, a war veteran.
Paired with someone from his otherwordly past who was a villain and a danger to the world supposedly and who seems to still carry a curse that is exorcised by being intimate (first base) together.

but then

Harem, despite the guy making things clear to each of the girls, meaning they could never win and he told them.
He still gets flustered around girls and ends up in awkward situations and can't be clear with the witch.
The axe was unfortunately deserved.

I said something similar on a previous chapter, but it feels like this had a chance to be an okay and fun read even if the premise wasn't groundbreaking... but it really just nosedived into pretty sloppy haremslop and they obviously got the call that the axe was coming while they were still in the harem-fluffing stage, so when it actually came, the end was unglamourous...

What a waste - both of its premise and of my time spent reading it - this was...

True that. But I heard that the rest of the story was bullshit and add nothing to the story and only the step-sister of the MC was the only one that added significant value. So it did time-skip and end, but that's better than 100+ manga chapters of nothing but bullshit.

From the spoilers I read on that manga's final chapter, Axe-kun did us a huge favour with how much of a mess the story became from that point, and that's putting it kindly.
