I regret the time I spent reading this; it's not quite as disturbing as its reputation suggests, and it takes way too long for the story it's telling. It just feels more tedious than anything else.
Well... I had heard about this a long ago and didn't read, as the common advice was to not read it. I've got to say, this is quite a sad story indeed, but not nearly as bad as I heard. I like the ending though

Why wouldn't it? It's the same as with non-porn manga: first they being printed in (mostly) monthly magazines, having many artists and original stories, then they print them in individual for each artist tankobons, like this one. There's like dozens of official porn-publishing companies - it's quite big industry.
I.e. if it's not self-published - and not to mention obvious cases when it's a parody of someone else's work, you can usually figure it's self-published if they being short and having individual color covers - then it's not a doujin.
I could not stop thinking about this after reading it. This is the first time I’ve ever read a hentia for its plot, and skipped the sex. Who knew a hentai could get me so depressed.
