Honestly, although I know I'm wrong, I like to think that Baileen completely saw through MC's attempt at manipulation in the last chapter and, because the protagonist was being sincere (the MC sincerely doesn't think it was Baileen's fault), Baileen decided to play along because, although he knew that the MC was trying to manipulate him, the MC telling him that it wasn't his fault was enough for him. I know I'm wrong, but thinking of it this way just makes the story readable.
