Its funny to me that a lot of Japanese probably think you'd have to eat like that to get that fat.
I mean I wouldn't know either. Surely a prospective fat person wouldn't stop with regular portions and if half of it is rice you'd have to work even harder.

I agree with @Ninoren This chapter was somehow weird to read. Like it had a certain atmosphere. Uncomfortable or awkward, I guess describes it well.

Like damn, MC is just chowing down the food, while his sister (?) is having some difficulties. That's at least what it felt like. :pepehmm:

It's uncomfortable because the female character there(Not sure if she had an appearance before) is exuding a very depressive energy.
Her dream just got crushed (She got fired from her dream workplace) and she desperately is trying to hold it in.
Of course it is uncomfortable to read.

Damn our guy really does just not care about anyone else. He sees his sister (?) as being just a sort of food maker for him. He questioned her being home but didn't care. Also him looking at her like he looks at her like Itsuha is also really out of place.

Worst this chapter had absolutely nothing happen with developing our characters

same lol, as a person who used to be 200-212lbs and sometime upward of 120kg (when I was depressed) BMI hovering 33-36 range, i'm pretty sure i eat less than this guy. The problems are, what you eat (carb+sugar), how many time you eat (4-6 times a day) and how much activities you do (desk work all day then drive home then sleep) and what is your sleep schedule.

There are, of course, people who get fat eating like him, but it usually eating disorder problem by that point, another can of worm.

Is it just me?.. Reading this chapter was mega uncomfortable ô_ô.. Like the atmosphere in it
The air was palpable for sure. Pretty odd to have something like this in the manga all of a sudden which perhaps makes it feel more intense, though the manga has broached some hard topics before so not too out there. As in reality, these kinds of moments come and go sporadically, which only makes it feel more authentic here.

I've been there, sometimes in rough times the best you can do is try to establish some sense of normalcy and leave people to their thoughts while leaving yourself available to them; especially in the MC's shoes where he really can't do much else for her.

---

We're not getting the full story here (and may never), granted it's clear she didn't leave work on good terms. It doesn't seem anything crazy happened but this is some pretty heavy burnout at the very least and that can be serious in its own right.

My read on this chapter is that MC is starting to become a bit of a burden and needs to learn how to consider others. Also him asking for the temperature to be turned down might be a health flag.

I'm surprised by the takes a bit here. Nothing in this seems out of the ordinary insofar as reactions from our MC. His sister is an adult and dealing with adult problems. There is only so much he can do, which is being super thankful for the food and the effort she's putting in. Trying to act as normal as possible in the face of what I'm sure is a trying time for her.

What's wrong with the other guys in the forum, and why am I the only one (maybe) feeling warmth from this chapter?

They don't consume nearly as much sugar based drinks as the US. Everything in the vending machines is unsweetened tea, natural juice, or zero calorie sodas. Basic Coca-Cola is about the only exception.
