While 'Reborn as a Space Mercenary' is also space sci-fi, tonally, Rebuild World is closer to this. It's a post-apocalytic cyberpunk setting rather than space, but is much, much grittier than Space Mercenary.

Idk what people expected. She was specifically warned to not go on a pilgrimage and fell for a very common trick. She at bare minimum needed some friends around of the civilization was that dangerous and she wanted to do this anyway.

I've long thought that a sci-fi person, like a space marine or something, being isekai'd would be quite an interesting premise. This is quite that, but I'm keen to see how this goes.
Personally, I like to imagine the Doom guy... from Doom... being isekai'd to fight a Demon King, and going sicko mode doing so.

Anyway, they're going to need to explain why this planet is such a backwater, technologically behind, place. We see in this chapter alone that they're getting regular visits and transports, and I don't think that was disrupted at all (or it wasn't implied), so why is their tech and lifestyle so far behind?

The problem is they just use rape as a plot device to get two characters close through one character saving the victim but completely ignore what that does to the victim, how violated they feel. These stories trivialize rape and make it seem like its not that big of a deal when its fucking not

Bruh, dude lost his face 10 years ago. He retired to a backwater planet partially because he's not gonna find a "normal" wife and stop poor to live a middle class life despite 30 years of war.

And all we get is some 10 pages of backstory. Whose ignoring the victim?

I wish you the best in your trauma, but you really need to get over it in such discussions. There are more than one type of way to to be traumatized and stories can't serve everyone. We have plenty of isekai fluff if you need that.
