Since I am the actual genuinely crowned authority on all things translation I know that even official translations will sometimes not translate some stuff if it is irrelevant to the plot. It took me years to achieve these lofty heights of World's Greatest Translator so if you pay attention you might learn something.

The problem here is that you have outed yourself as acting like a fool with a superiority complex. L1v hasn't spoken to you afaik, you just decided to turn into a mean girl cause I said something one time about l1v doing a series first.

Not only have you misdirected your impotent rage at a fellow scanlator you've done it in front of me, the Scanmaster General.

You have 10 series and can't keep up with any of them, but would throw a fit if someone sniped one.

I personally do 37 other series in 8 different languages and manage to keep up with them and release within minutes of the raws coming out. How do i do it? Well, for one, I don't

Because it felt completely out of place and completely took me out of it and if it was just a translator comment, I'd rather have the same amount of random english letters in place of the nonsense original words that are actually there instead.

If you want to add comments as a translator, it's a better form to put them at the end, I'm grateful for translations but I want to read the manga/manwha and not be interrupted by somebody's comments in between.

Like if u saw my comments, it was literally me encouraging them to continue since i genuinely dgaf. Their quality was so bad its clear no one would read it. Plus they were always sniping 1-30 chaps ahead. I even asked people to NOT report them, while also not reporting them myself. Why am i even explaining shit to someone who preferes unrefined poor quality work over quality work.

Then you'll have to do translations? Quite a few idioms/words/terms do not translate well between languages. This is why AAA game studios hire hordes of localization experts to handle translations that people like l1v and our 9 year old friend Kora here do for us for free.

There is text there and drawing the line at nonsense vs actually putting something there you should be able to see by the other commentor saying the exact opposite of you (that nonsense words should be translated) that it's subjective. I'm sorry that our TLer ruined the whole panel for you by doing some localization but that's a ridiculous thing to get pulled out of a series for. Maybe you just don't like the series lmao

A good localization team knows to choose a localization that still fits the tone of the original works - that what makes it different to a team that does straight translations.


And not only is the tone part of the reason I like and I also have no obligations to comment on other posters opinions on here when I see no problem with it: I never disagreed about wanting to have 'nonsense' tranlasted - if you managed to do one 'idiom/word/term' you might as well do them all - I have simply voiced my very own preference

More than anything I have done - more than once - done translations for myself whenever I wanted to simply read ahead or read a series that nobody has picked up

And not to further rain on your parade but people have translated entire chinese, korean and japanese novels using MTL and their knowledge of the language to fully translate and localize it perfectly - even phrases that are uncommon or unusual - and all of them manage to add in a small note explaning the original meaning and the original text

I am old enough to know what actual scanslators are - the people who have had to buy several physical copies, rip one apart to scan the pages, have a another to read through it and even a third to make annotations. When they didn't have access to online dictionaries thesaurus

To not preach the ancient texts to me. I was there when they were written.
