I'm a bit confused, so basically it sounds like fang wan was supposed to die in that car accident a long time ago but lin ling being there and the blue string basically kept her alive all this time, so why does lin ling wanna separate from her? I get she's doing it for the other's sake but the logic isn't quite matching up for me

You stayed away from her and she started bleeding and fainted anyway, it's clearly not you being near her that causes it you ditz

Yeah it's like complementary people share life force and luck and all that jazz. Ling Ling had an abundance of life force so when she met Fang Wan who should have died during the crash their the life force was shared. This ended up draining Ling Ling of all luck, etc.

By being close it's sucking away the luck Fang Wan had for the longest time and since she should've died she's starting to die and have shit luck.

To obtain something, something of equal value must be lost. That is the law of equivalent exchange.

This line from Fullmetal Alchemist fits the reasoning of the Complementary phenomenon. In order for one to live, one must die if they are near each other. That's dark yow
