Y'all are thinking way too hard. The only way to get to the demon lord's castle is through a port and that port just so happens to be closed off and there just so happens to be a demon officer and there just so happens to be an anti-goddess area surrounding the entire area and it just so happens to be the goddess of orders territory, the goddess who also happened to imprison 2 heros on false pretenses already. Demons and the goddess of order are in kahoots to kill all the heroes once they've gathered at the only chokepoint, the pretense is probably that the goddess of order wants to end the goddess race once and for all and the demons will swoop in to defeat the now only remaining goddess.
