Favorites tab on the front page :planned:

Reading older manga is cumbersome.

When you read ongoing series you just tap on the follows tab and see all the updates - that’s great, fast and convenient.

But when you have a few older, completed series you also read then going back to them is very inconvenient and requires navigating every time. It’s especially irritating when you follow a lot of rarely updated, ongoing series, so you have to look for that old title every time in that large pile of content in the reading category.

A simple favorites tab would allow for quick access to any series the user wants to have there - it would be a flexible feature. In my case it would be for easier access to a few older mangas I currently read, but maybe others would use it for other reasons.

A custom catalog feature will also help (although I’m not a fan of burying these things in a menu), but favorites on the frontpage would be even better and would be intuitive and straightforward for every new user.

While this proposal offers some distinct benefit for the user, it is essentially a bookmarking function, and most browsers are even able to export bookmarks or to have them stored on a server so that the can be retrieved across multiple devices.

While you're right that bookmarks are a thing and can be used in a similar manner as to how the OP wants, that doesn't mean this feature wouldn't benefit users of the website. Syncing and accessing bookmarks is another extra, unnecessary step, when I could go to mangadex.org and seamlessly tap on my 'favorite manga list', for a quick, visual list of all the manga I'm reading(bookmarks don't have covers, descriptions, etc). Bookmarks are so yesterday, and this feature integrated within the site would make your manga reading experience all the more enjoyable.

+1 for this suggestion.

I dunno about a favorites tab, but "Customized categories (naming and functionality)" is in the stickied planned list

Having this implemented is useless to me because I will favourite every manga I plan to read only to forget the next day then come back again to say "Oh yeah that exist I'll read it tomorrow"

If you plan to implement it as customized categories I’d be grateful if you could make it as frictionless as possible. Programmers/engineers tend to design things as capable technically or flexible as possible often disregarding the human factors, like friction and simplicity.

If getting back to these titles will require navigating every time via menus then this new feature will be a cool thing to have to manage a collection but not truly solving the quick access issue.
