Dang that scopophobia on page one is no joke
(why is he screaming menopause to his dad, presumably, tho? i guess i wouldn't be surprised if there was a 'male' ver but ppl usually associate that word with middle aged/older women. but considering the dad's attitude, i'm surprised he even had the money for all those 'products' since those can be pricey unless he had a part time job versus an allowance) Thick hair is usually a good thing considering ppl 'aging' always complain about thinning hair, unless it's more so a pain to like shave and such/body hair in unwanted places even for a guy
Horror twist aside i assume puberty and stress would cause you to break out no matter how 'good' your skincare routine is. hell, if anything i feel like i'm more open to breaking out after rinsing my face since some face wash is meant to 'open your pores' to clean them or so , unless there's some kinda 'sealing' liquid you're supposed to pat your face with afterwards to shrink them and make sure they don't get exposed to outside dirt and such

LOL depends on how heavy you sleep there are some ppl that'll sleep through like hurricanes (tho you do see foreshadowing of him itching at the back of his neck maybe she hid under his bed really quickly if he did wake up at one point, b/c if it feels like something stung you in the middle of the night, you wouldn't necessarily suspect a sibling), which is a bit concerning but i guess that can be a horror story of someone not noticing terrible shit happening too/around them b/c they don't wake up (tho i wonder how easy it is to get ahold of testosterone/estrogen like that considering ppl do pay for stuff like that , although i guess it would be 'easier' to sneak it into any skincare lotion/bottles/etc he'd have given how 'obsessed' he is with his image)

This is really menopause in the original Japanese text lol. Not sure how common it is across all of Asian culture, but as an Asian myself, we also joke about calling older men menopause or even make period jokes with guys.

I think I know a few trans guys who'd be totally down for forced masculinization. Anyway, the whole "secretly injecting him with testosterone" thing feels... off? Like, he's a teenager. His body would already be doing that to himself. Now maybe he doesn't want a male puberty, in which case that really sucks, what with Japan's treatment of trans people and all. But it feels totally pointless for the sister to have secretly dosed him with T.

Maybe online or from someone else. Or maybe in Japan you don't need a prescription.
Not to mention that having too much T in your body will actually cause your body to convert the extra T into estrogen. So he's more likely to experience some degree of feminization as well, most likely breast growth, and I doubt a cis guy would be happy about that. Not sure how old this guy is, but it's like he was never taught about puberty at all...
And the sister doesn't wash her face in the morning? People like this exist...?
Thing is I don't think they give out prescriptions for injectable testosterone in Japan. Like you have to go in to a clinic and they do the injections for you.

Other comments have already explained why this chapter was such a letdown, and combined with JPN-specific transphobia, it just gave me the ick overall.
The better explanation is that the sister is just about to start transitioning and got rid of the two people in the family who's gonna be the most annoying about it: the dad with outdated views of masculinity, and the brother with very toxic skincare beliefs.

i read this chapter like 3 times to make sure i didn't missed anything
because from what what i got from this chapter the brother are overly sensitive about his appearance gonna end up like his dad so he maintained it deligently. he thought pimple and rapid growth of hair caused by his father genes makes his snapped because looking like his father is inevitable now. all his effort to look good are useless in the end
his sister probably hold grudge because of his constant nagging, the sister even baited him mentioning his fathers genes are the cause of it

Well He was hogging the bathroom, (but right before school I feel like ppl would prioritize brushing teeth/hair before any beauty routine) maybe she had some toner /wipe or something before putting on her own makeup but shared bathroom aside I would’ve expected her to get a cheap compact/hand mirror or so if not do it on the train/right before class but it would be more “horrifying” if she got rid of him for such a a petty reason and willing to sacrifice the dad too as opposed to being resentful of him being a golden child or son
