Max Black Company, makes you work overtime even in the afterlife.
Ura Baito vibes

But also, a surprisingly introspective story. We spend a good page with the protagonist after the reveal, just wallowing in the feelings. It's not quite Lovecraft's The Outsider where we end on the reveal. I like it. It makes one wonder whether the cause of death was really so simple. Yes, COVID is a stressor of health, but is not the company itself, and the commute it demands?

This chapter also used that thing from Chapter 6 where unmasked people are said to be ghosts. The train scene shows the POV character as the only one without a mask. In the office, notice how he, the boss and the gloomy lady did not wear masks while being in relative close proximity to each other, while the security guard still wore a mask while inspecting the empty office alone and offering his respects at the POV character's desk. The gloomy lady seems to be implied to be the Reaper.

I love that the series has started making callbacks to the earlier stories, giving this one two interpretations:
1. Chapter 6 mask story was true after all - the unmasked people are ghosts. (which makes the previous Yamakazu story more suspect - he's the only masked person in an audi full of unmasked MLM cultists)
2. The ones who died may have been those who ignored COVID protocols, refusing to wear a mask and returning as an unmasked ghost.
