Thanks!

Ah yes true Reiwa modern fear, getting in shape/physical activity/shot

Exercise is good for you mentally but it'd be sucky if you had weird metabolism or did have a steady thing for like a year and no results (tho for me even if i didn't lose weight i'd be happy with just not gaining more or so)

dang was that some kinda illusion or so or did that guy just drain his energy or so XD; not that i expected a happy ending but i would've more expected him to be sold steroids and 'fixing' his timidness by him raging and just throwing a punch at the next person who prodded him or so

Fitness vampire...now I seen everything.
My only question is how no one else thought something was up. Dude comes in every day and is getting skinnier all the time and no one says anything? He even has a job but no one looked at his physique and decided he needed help?

Fitness Vampire...operative word being Vampire! Them vampires got hypnotic powers and junk.
Sure that excuse flies when he's at the gym but clearly other people can see him for how he really looks. Also remember that the guy said he was at work when he showed up late only because Mr. Vampire didn't know where he was. So it's not like he's keeping a constant tab on the dude and and the people around him, making everyone see him for what he thinks he sees.

I feel like it's one of those moments where I was supposed to suspend my disbelief for the sake of the "horror" but I thought about it too much.

Oh so it's like one of those things where someone becomes obsessed with 'fitness' and 'health' and 'proper eating', but in reality they're just starving themselves.

The ones who see the guy everyday might not have noticed because it was a gradual change. His ex and other people who haven't seen him in a while will perceive the change as more sudden and dramatic.

Yeah, I get it's short form, but there's not proper lead-up and it doesn't make sense. The Vampire making him hallucinate gains...etc.

American Dad handled it much better with Anorexia, becuase at least then, the visualization being abused by an entity was "I want to get slimmer!" not, "I want to bulk!"

yeah although other than the gym being a part of it/owner, you'd think someone would also be concerned, then again most ppl mind their own business and don't necessarily interfere

I like this one as a metaphor. I think it really works as a commentary on alpha male/manosphere culture. What's that phrase again? Delete Facebook, lawyer up, hit the gym. And in doing all those things you find a guide who knows just how to make you feel better. You're doing it wrong, here, let me show you how to do it... a coach that's always available at a 24/7 gym, making you feel strong and manly and no longer timid. You'll feel worse and worse and think that the pain is weakness leaving your body. Ignore everyone else's concerns, they just don't get it. Eventually they'll leave and all you have is the gym, and the trainer that's always there.

Not a big coincidence that the story starts with the protagonist suffering a breakup.

Eh, maybe this was just a little personal to me but it kinda reminded me of when I was anorexic in college. People could very well have been telling him he looks like shit, but because he doesn't see it he doesn't believe them. They're just "jealous". They don't know "my body" like I do.

And a lot of times, people won't tell you to your face out of "politeness". The only ones who do say something are people who genuinely care about you. If dude bro had been isolating from friends and family for a while, basically just going to work and the gym since his break up, might have taken the friends/family a while to notice the problem and then work up the best way to confront him with it.

Anyway, fitness vampire didn't need to hypnotize everyone else, just him. All fitness vampire needed to do was convince MC that he was looking swoll and that everyone else was just lying about his true appearance. Plus, since this is supernatural, we don't really know how long this dude was working out for. Coulda been like a week and bc he knows nothing about working out just believed yeah, its totally possible to get ripped like that in just a week. If dude got sucked dry no homo that quickly yeah his ex might have only just noticed and been like "dude holy shit I gotta talk to him somethings seriously wrong with him"

The Girl states that everyone is worried about him so the people around him notice, but I suppose they themselves were to timid to confront him about it or just didn't know how. Either they reached out to his ex or she eventually heard from the grapevine, but by then it was too late.
